IE8 - Search Provider Default Message

I keep getting this message every time I launch IE8.
(This happened the last time I used IE8, and I got so fed up having to delete them every time, so I went back to IE7. But "alienRIK" has badgered me into downloading IE8 again. AARGHH).
The message is followed by another box, which is supposed to allow changes to add ons and search providers. But it will not allow me to delete Bing and put Google as the default. Why is this?
I've tried several times to take a screen shot, copy and paste the offending messages here but for some reason it doesn't work, so I've typed the first one out in the hope that you guys can help me out.
How do I get rid of these 2 messages once and for all?
Internet Explorer – Search Provider Default
A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer has reset this setting to you original search provider, Bing (www.bing.com).
Internet Explorer will now open Search Settings, where you can change this setting or install more search providers.
Can anyone come up with a solution?

Firefox?
Now the serious answer. Maybe there is a problem with file permissions in your user profile. Are you logged in as user with administrative rights or restricted user? If the latter try to reset the permissions on your user profile. To do so you'll need to logon as Administrator and navigate to the folder which contains all user profiles. Depending on your version of Windows it is C:\documents and Settings\ or C:\Users. Then right click on the folder with your name and select Properties -> Security tab. If there is no Security tab you need to disable "Simple filesharing" under Tools -> Folder Options -> View Tab.
In the Security Tab you should see your name and when you click on it, should show full control. Now you click on the Advanced Tab, tick "Replace permission entries..." and Apply. Now close all windows, login with your user account and try IE again.0 -

Try this:
1) Start
2) Run
3) Copy and paste the following line into the 'Open' field:
msiexec /x {8FFC5648-FAF8-43A3-BC8F-42BA1E275C4E}
4) OK0 -

Perhaps you should ask down the pub, rather than to ask on a Technical forum.

I thought it was a valid question. Next time someone posts "rm -rf /" or similar...
And people come here and ask questions because they are not as technical savvy as the people who help.
@Oldbiggles: msiexec /x xyz uninstalls the product xyz

So I'm happy for you to answer his question, but personally I feel insulted that someone would ask me such a question.
I gave a technical answer to a technical question. Someone else can do the chitchat.0 -
Donnie - I was referring to the OP "so I went back to IE7. But "alienRIK" has badgered me into downloading IE8 again. AARGHH)" but I will delete my post..0
