            Hi Matty,
Just to say, the first advisor is actually wrong and the second it correct.
 (1) It seems you are struggling to get a job in the field you want. This is happening to many with little experience. Competition is too big.
 (2) You should look for other jobs anyway. Anything out there if possible, will be better than sitting on the dole. The reason why, is that employers will look at your cv and know that you have been on the JSA for long. They will think you are lazy and put your cv in the bin.
 (3) You should try even voluntary work - even this is scarce nowadays.
 (4) If you seriously want to stick to the same job that matches your qualifications - you should phone up companies and ask if you can shadow a member of staff to gain an insight of the job role you want to work as.
 (5) If you are applying for jobs which you consider as lowering your expectations, make sure you adapt your cv to the job expectations.
Last word of advice - the long road to JSA is one horrible experience. You feel that you are classified as one penny pincher but you just want to get out this hole. Just make sure you make the most of the time and that you are not just sitting and waiting.
I assume you don't have a mortgage or children to hold you down. If not, you are in a much better situation than most. If you are in this category, look elsewhere and don't just look in your area for work.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'
Remember to say thank you to people who help you out!
Also, thank you to people who help me out.0

I know nothing about the JC so in that respect I can't help. However, your advisor is right...it is much much easier to get a job if you have one already.
Best of luck with the search!0

At this stage you do have to do pretty much anything. If you have been on this long and not got a job then you need to start thinking about taking any job.
God knows I loathe speaking to claimants but its a nasty side effect that I put up with because I need the money and the job itself.0

Surely if the second advisor was as brilliant as you say, you'd be working by now?
Maybe this is the one to find you work after all this time on JSA?
You've not found anything within your comfort zone so now you need to challenge your attitude to work and try something new. Seems you have the perfect advisor tbh!0

I think we know the answer to that.
Off topic, what happened with the thread McNeff (something like that) posted on last night and you said she was Annie Hanlon. Has she got 2 names?
I'd forgotten about that! It looks like McKneff was anniehanlon and had a name change - if you look at any of anniehanlon's quoted posts, then go back to the original post, they are now under McKneff's name. Gone ... or have I?0 Gone ... or have I?0
