Hi,
I've booked a train journey costing me £27.90 with mytrainticket but couldn't travel due to a death in the family so had to cancel....I contacted customer services within 24 hours to cancel
I was told because it was an advance ticket no refund would be given
This was made clear when I booked the ticket but is there anything I can do about getting some of the money back at least (minus admin charge)
Cheers

Sorry I think there is no refund of the ticket, if you have travel insurance maybe that would cover it ?
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/advance_conditions.htmlExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Totally correct what taffy has said, however, you can't get a refund but with some train companies you can get a 'Goodwill Gesture'. But as you bought your tickets from mytrainticket this goodwill gesture won't happen from them.
What you could do and it is a long short is send the tickets to the primary train company that is named on the advance ticket ie; if it says 'vwc+connections' send it to Virgin trains, 'EC+connections' send it to East coast.
Then enclose a letter with the tickets explaining your unforseen circumstances and how you normally enjoy travelling on the train companies trains' etc etc etc, I'll leave the rest of the letter design to yourself.
You could be luck and get something back, its worked for me in the past and a few others that have printed their experiences on other forums, but if you don't try then you don't get.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
Forgot to say if you get anything back it will be in the form of 'Rail Vouchers' and not cashWhoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0
