places for kids between leicester and scotland

we are going to leicester in a few weeks and have 2 young children (3 years and a baby). We thought instead of travelling up from leicester and stopping at service stations we could maybe drive a few hours then somewhere about half way we could stop off and have a day out with the kids then continue back to scotland. Any ideas of good places to go? thanks for the help

Bit more info - your interests, is the 3 year old a boy/girl, are you going up to the west side of Scotland, east side, central belt etc. would help..............

How far is half way?

Big difference between heading for Aberdeen or North Berwick

stay just 30 mins from edinburgh. Maybe stop somewhere about 3 hours from leicester?

Id recommend Adventure valley in Durham.It opened this year and is getting rav reviews.
