Private parking fine

I really need some advice. I recieved a private parking ticket by a company called Central Ticketing, for 'obstructive parking' which means i had parked over the white line!
I wrote to them to appeal as i think the fine is unreasonable. Firstly the car parked next to me was right on the line so i had no option but to follow suit and park further over so that neither my or the other car was damaged. Secondly i had 2 children with me under the age of 2 so needed some space to get them out the car. Thirdly as i was getting the children out a parking warden walked past me and never said a word!!( Oh silly me he wouldn't have would he!!) Lastly there are signs around the car park however the nearest sign to my car was stuck in a corner facing the other direction and semi covered by over grown trees.
I wrote all these points in my appeal letter for all the good it did! I got a letter back saying my appeal had been unsucessful on this occasion and demading payment of £65. Today is the last day to pay it at that rate then it goes up to £135!! How can they charge such high amounts for a carpark thats free to park in?
What do i do? Pay or ignore? What will happen if i don't pay? Will it effect my credit report?
please help

They can charge £10,000 if they like, it does not mean that you are under any legal requirement to pay. Just ignore the invoice(previously referred to as a fine) Read all (well some of) the posts on here and you will see that its safe to do so.
As they are a private company its not in their interest to accept appeals, it costs them money they think. file all the letters you will get and in about 4-5 more they will give up as a bad job and move onto easier prey.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Thanks for that, i know the right thing to do is ignore the letters but i am applying for a morg soon so need to be sure if it will effect my credit score, dont suppose you would know the answer??:)0

Of course it won't affect your credit score. For that to happen it would have to go to court (very unlikely), you lose (very, very unlikely) and you don't pay whatever the judge orders). Don't forget that these parking companies are just private citizens with no special powers and can be ignored. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
I really dont know what to do!! I think i scared of what might happen if i dont pay, this is the first time in 12 years of driving i have every had a fine! Knowing my look they would take it all the way and i end up paying twice as much!0

That's what they want you to think. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
THIS IS NOT A FINE!!!!!!I really dont know what to do!! I think i scared of what might happen if i dont pay, this is the first time in 12 years of driving i have every had a fine! Knowing my look they would take it all the way and i end up paying twice as much!
Its a speculative request for money phrased as officially as possible to make you think that its an official fine and must be paid. If you like I'll send you a ""fine"" for being left handed and you send me £50.00 reduced to £25.00 if you send a blank cheque, (signed of course,) its just as official as any they send.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

Please, this is not a "fine", it's an unenforceable invoice which you can safely ignore. You are taking these people too seriously and falling into the trap they have set, where people think these bunch of scammers are legitimate. And we all know what the opposite of "legitimate" is, it starts with the letter "b".What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

As I said on the other thread in reply to you, totally ignore them as its an unenforceable invoice!
Also its not a fine! Just an invoice , the only people that fine you are the courts, and the only ones that can give you enforceable tickets are the council and police.
You are putting to much weight on the scammers, I read in the last few days that over 70% of these tickets are ignored and not paid, please don't be in the 30%, the people above have ignoered dozens of tickets, do a search on other forums if you wish CAG and pepipoo will say the same.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Read this thread for the letters to expect, and look at this video where a lawyer demonstrates what to do with a private parking invoice.0

If you let this scum walk all over you, they will remain in business and do the same to others. Do your research and trust the people who have given their time to give you wise advice. Do you think that someone with the media profile of Martin Lewis would allow people to give consistently bad advice on his website?Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0
