hello every1
i rang hmrc 6 week ago to inform them of a change of circumstaces (my partner moving in) and my old claim was stopped and she took the dates of the change and said she would issue a new claim form.
we got the claim form three weeks after it was issued and sent it back about two weeks ago by recorded delivery.
how long do the normally take to sort the new claims and issue payment?

There's loads of threads on here where people have been waiting ages for change of circumstance claims like yours - joint to single doesn't seem to be a problem, but single to joint appears to take longer. Unfortunately it looks like they have just had a huge backlog of people applying for their renewals very late despite receiving forms as early as April this year, and this is having a snowball effect on all claims being processed. I think that they will tell you it will be at least 3 weeks after receipt of the forms - so you are stil within their accepted timeframe.0

In total from date my single claim was ended it took 9 weeks to sort out.0

3 weeks from HMRC getting your form is what HMRC aim for IF no further information is required. Call the helpline and check the form has been received, if it has ask the advisor if there is any further info needed to process the claim (the system will show what are referred to as 'verification failures' if it needs more info - a lot of these - but not all - can be sorted by the helpline advisor when you call, if you dont chase this up yourself the claim will just sit for ages without anything happening!0

will my claim be backdated?? i didnt write a letter in with the form to ask for it to be as the lady told me it would automaticly be backdated to the date he moved in and any over payment will be done after. as i informed the 2 week after he moved in because i couldnt get through to the helpline0

Next time you call ask to verify the date the claim is shown as starting from, and if it's not from the day after the single claim ended (the date a partner moved in) ask for it to be set from that date.0
