Ok, what i'm looking for is first and foremost 7 seats. Not pretend seats, but seats that an adult would be happy to sit in for a long journey.
It must be able to take 4 large suitcases in the boot without compromising the passengers comfort.
It would also be good if it could do over 30 MPG.
NCAP not important, I dont crash.
Removable seats would be an advantage.
So would the ability to take an 8 by 4 sheet.
Finally, not van based.
Any ideas?

VW Touran?
There seems to be a few similar threads on this subject, have a scroll through the board.0 -
Would a touran take a 4 ft wide board 8ft long or 4 large suitcases in the boot with 7 seats utilised?0

Toyota Previa is not made any more, but was a classic 7 seater with diesel engines.
Chrysler Voyager also out of production, but comfy 7 seater.0 -
According to honestjohn the only cars that ome close to meeting your criteria are:-
Renault Grand Espace
Chrysler Grand Voyager
Kia Sedona
VW T5 caravelle
(and perhaps a Mazda Bongo)
or some sort of minibus
Galaxy, Sharan, Alhambra and C8 don't have the space behind the rear seats.0 -
The pretty Ssangyong Rodius. The slightly van based Hyundai i800. By not going for vans you're also ruling out the Mercedes Vito/Vianoscotsman4th wrote: »NCAP not important, I dont crash.
You might not crash, but other drunk/useless drivers will into you.

Dunno but you'll struggle to get something 8ft long (and especially also 4ft wide) in most cars. You need a van. You could get 6ftx4ft in a Sedona although it's really 6 rather than 7 seats. Most (not all) estates and MPVs are 5ft long, a few 6ft. Look for what happens to the seats too.0 -
Chrysler Grand Voyager would get my vote - although the reliability is appalling.
I know you don't like vans, but the Merc Vito is a really nice drive (I had one for a week on holiday)0 -
Thanks all, I read all the 7 seater threads with interest as I need the seats. My OP is everything I considered before buying.
The not van based was because once you go into van territory, they'll probably all do it (although the seats probably arnt removable easily either).
Never have looked in a grand espace in any detail, parkers list it as 12 inches shorter with 1/3 the luggage capacity of the grand voyager.
The Sedona was discounted because of someone i knows experiences with them.
VW would have been my choice to be honest but price to age at the time killed it.
So my OP was everything I know the Grand Voyager DOES do.
As someone who needs 6 of the 7 seats, uses it for uk holidays with the brood and luggage for 2 weeks, have had motorbikes in the back, 4ft wide sheets (I'm sure front seats to back door is 2.4 metres or 8ft, so the 8 by 4 fits).
Just wondered if there was anything that came close.0
