Vw corrado car insurance

Help! My daughter's 24 year-old boyfriend (will be 25 in December) is looking for cheap car insurance for a VW Corrado, 1991, with minor modifications. Getting rediculous insurance quotes considering the age of the car! Should he get temporary cover for a couple of months until he is 25? Any advice would be appreciated.
