uSwitch Confusion!
I've just made an enquiry through the uSwitch web site and it told me that I would save a significant amount of money if I switched to Southern Electric from my current supplier npower for both Electricity and Gas. Before switching I thought I'd just double check by running the comparison again but this time saying I already had the tariff that uSwitch recommended with Southern Electric. In theory the result should have said that I was on the best deal and there were no savings to be had. Instead it told me that actually I'd be better off with NPower (who it had just recommended I leave).
Both times I used exactly the same figures and used an exact kWh usage figure. I called U-switch and asked what was happening and I was told that I was missing the point and that I couldn't expect to get the same recommendation twice if I started by using different current energy suppliers. Surely who I use now shouldn't affect who is the best supplier to be with in the long term?
Am I missing something?

Sounds a bit dodgy. Did it show some cash-back or discount only applicable to new customers, or did it actually show different rates per Kwh depending on who you specified as your existing supplier ?0

was the npower tariff included in the results when you did your first comparison? Could be that they do not allow customers to move to a cheaper tariff, may be a case of 'Only for new customers'!0

npower do indeed have a lower tariff for new customers.0
