Help with my mobility scooter

What is the consumer rights on a purchase of a mobility scooter that I have had nothing but trouble with. I bought it nearly 2 years ago. It has been back to the place I bought it 5 times during that time and had the control panal replaced, new batteries (although have been just told that they are not new batteries it was just the casing that was replaced, and I paid £175 for it) a reconditioned motor, costing me £200 I have had it back 1 week and it has broken down again. I only had a year warranty so feel I am spening money on this and then something else goes wrong. I have made it clear how I feel about this to the supplier but it falls on deaf ears. I no longer trust this scooter as twice now I have been out on it and have broken down, not being able to move it I have had to call someone out to collect me. I feel if I just go and buy a new one I have let him get away with this, What can I do about it?

you need to contact the supplier and give him a chance to sort it, say 7 days. if not contact either consumer direct or c.a.b. the supplier cannot supply unmerchantable goods, the scooter suppler is liabile for the product upto six years if you were supplied with a scooter that has manufacturing problems. but like i say check with the cab or consumer direct and double check the info i have given you, i think its correct. why was the battery caseing replaced, not sure what u mean, the houseing holding the batters? surly you dont mean the battery case its self ?.what other problems, most things on scooters are easly fixed. the motors seem expensive ?. have u been for a second assesment to what the problems are, always a good thing todo.
hope that helps.0 -
as with anything you buy it should be fit for purpose,,it sounds as if you have not had a scooter fit for purpose,,do not take it back and demand your money back,,or get on to consumer right ,,they will help you0

Thanks for the respone
Little Tinker Yes it was new when I got it.
Snoopy89 I did give it back to the supplier 5 times and waiting today for him to pick it up again he fixes the problem then something else goes wrong, The batteries I have are connected by plugs and they were damaged, He told me I needed new batteries which I paid for but when I took it to the local mobility shop they did a test on the batteries and they told me they were the originals, when I questioned the supplier he told me I had the casing replaced not new batteries. The motor was originally quoted £300 but he told me he could get a reconditioned one for £120 I thought it was expensive but I needed the scooter so felt I had to pay for it. I think I will get the paperwork together and pop down to the CAB. Thanks for the advise,0 -
yes cab or trading standards (consumer direct) is your best bet. i have to say from what you have said the supplier sounds abit suspect, but without knowing full facts hard to say. also if the scooter is new why are u paying for there problem. it should have been done under warrenty or a manufacturing poblem, if correct it too should have been sorted free buy the dealer. anyway all best with it and keep pushing for the supplyer to get it wright.0
