    Nearly forgot...
    http://www.phoenixdirectukshop.co.uk/

I order my glossy cd labels from these people and I remember getting an email saying that they give you money (Which they credit to your 'account') for empty ink cartridges that you return to them. (They provide a freepost address to send them to so it doesn't cost you money)
I think from memory,in the case of my printers it was £2.50 per cartridge...
Every little helps as they say!! :D
  • Just ordered a new Epson printer because my old one (Epson Stylus Photo 900) has started to mess up; keeps printing streaky lines no matter how many times i headclean it.

    back to the point...

https://www.pcworld.co.uk are selling Epson R300 printers with free delivery for £82.99. Not too bad an offer, but if you are a member of the 'you at work scheme' you get about £4 off bringing the total to £78.84

If you are in the scheme and have forgot the online code PM me and i will let you know it ;)

rob290482 before you dump your Epson 900 try changing the print setting to quality instead of the standard setting of speed. I have an Epson stylus photo 880 and have recently experienced the same problem which I put down to either its age 4+ yrs or cheap inks , although I have been using the same inks for years? Changing the setting to quality has done the trick as it now has a new lease of life. The great thing about older printers is that the inks are dirt cheap, this doesn't seem to be the case with new models of printers. I picked up an HP 7660 from Argos today for £59.99 which is a good buy just in case the Epson's new lease of life is short lived and leaves me in the lurch, but the Hewlett Packard will stay in the box until the Epson finally gives up as its so cheap to run.

I have merged this thread with another that is currently active.:)

It is better than having two of the same thing floating around, hope you don't mind.:)

  • Thanks 'Jeff121' might try changing the settings, previous epson had just run out of warrenty (by about 1 week) and the epson service centre wouldnt help.
Already ordered my new R300 :) and 6 sets of ink from diskdepot.
Will probably give my old printer to my mum, she wont use it much anyway and if she does it will be for text only so colour wont matter.

Well Rob changing the settings from speed to quality seemed to be a short lived fix as black print was OK today but colour needed a head clean to get it working again, I see in a previous thread that others have same problem with Epson's, maybe the cheap inks catching up with it or in the case of my 880 old age! Anyway loathed to part with this printer I have ordered colour ink head cleaner from KC-inks (thanks NickA for posting that address) and will give this a try. Have not set up the HP 7660 as I might sell it or return it to buy an Epson R300 as the inks are so much cheaper than HP inks, I will let you know if the cleaning cartridge solves the problem with my 880
  • Check this site out for a good printer forum. http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums

My Epson C42 would'nt print cos it said it needed to be taken to be serviced. This happens when an internal counter reaches the amount when it thinks the built in cleaning pad is soaked in ink. I sourced a reset program off this site and reset my printer and have had loads of image heavy prints off it without any problems. You can take these pads out yourself and wash them out and dry them or a local service centre will change them for £15.
