they're all as bad as the next imho - ensure you backup anything important to an external hard drive.IT Field Service Engineer, 20 years with screwdriver and hammer

yes , it's been playing up for the last couple of weeks and for the last week would only boot after doing a system restore everytime , then yesterday wouldn't boot at all , tried safe mode , repair system etc , have run packard bell h/d diagnostic , it passes long test , but fails/ doesn't complete 2nd - freezes after 1/4 of test , have run it 2/3 times all with same results0

IBM Deskstar/Travelstar, bought by Hitachi. Improved upon originally, then left to slide downhill in quality as with all other laptop drives. I have 3 in my car boot for returns currently. Recoverable, but... knackered.IT Field Service Engineer, 20 years with screwdriver and hammer

i generally like the samsung F drives, the latest being the f3Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
Are you sure it is the HDD?
A bad shutdown or install could leave errors on the disk that can cause problems.
HDD's are the most unreliable piece in the pc so backup!. If you have windows search on and daily virus checking your HDD will wear out very quicklyNudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0 -
The Samsung F3 1TB (Model: HD103SJ) for around £45 benchmarks as pretty much THE fastest conventional drive before you move up to expensive SSD drives. If that's close to the size and budget you were thinking about I'd highly recommend that specific model

(assuming you're talking about a desktop not a laptop)0
