Feeling better - being self sufficient - doing the best for the country - what a load of old cobblers!!
And don't give me that old rubbish about losing benefits next month, of course things will change, the claimants will have to adapt to them - and work round the system - whatever happens.
Condoning fraud again I see (as you have done in other posts).
If everyone downed tools and took your advice there would be financial meltdown. Would be interesting to see how the likes of you would 'work round the system' then."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -

The people moaning on this thread about the OP not working a full time job, I bet, are the same people that moan about parents not knowing what their children are up to all the time. If the OP's child did something silly, they'd soon be on her back for not supervising her child properly.
It also makes me laugh how SAHMs somehow think they are above single parents. Wouldn't surprise me if a few of those were dishing out the nasty comments.
I agree entirely0 -

I believe you would be able to do. Mind you it's not as bad as a friend's wife years ago - super glued his foreskin to his stomach whilst he was asleep for having an affair!! That did cause a laugh!!0 -

Fraud - I never mentioned it did I?
Just, as I keep saying, understand the law, and work with it and around it. That is not fraud or indeed illegal is it?
It may not be morally right, but what is more important, to have principles or food on the table?
I don't know if you live in the real world, probably not, but people, including MP's, bankers, solicitors, accountants etc pay good money to experts whose job it is to find a way round the law but still remain legal.
Look what happened to the so called 'bankers bonus special levy'?
They got round that piece of legislation this summer, and now the ex Chancellor accepts that it didn't work - they still managed to receive their bonuses without having to pay the crazy tax!
Are all they wrong as well?
Just plain common sense!0 -

That didn't stop you "suggesting" the other day that someone who was having a baby may suddenly get sick after and be able to claim ESA!!!
Nobody had mentioned sicknes in that thread except you0 -

Good grief - what a negative response to a helpful, positive suggestion!0 -

While you're only working part time, why don't you train for a new career to give more satisfaction to the rest of your life? As you're on benefits there may be lots of financial help for this, particularly if you don't have many qualifications already.
I normally like your posts however i dont see this as positive or helpful at all. More judgemental.
How do you know that cleaning is not satisfying for the OP? It may not be the highest paying (evidently) or most rewarding job however people like the OP in low paying menial jobs make the world go round and always will, not everyone can be high flyers. Education is a great thing but she came to MSE for benefit advice not career advice, if you cant give it maybe dont post in this particular thread.
To the OP - Having said that in your particular situation i really believe you will be better off finding a job (cleaning if you so wish) with at least 30 hours topped up with WTC , CTC and CB. This way depending how much your rent and CT are you would still be better off than in part time work and not be hit so hard when all your child related benefits are stopped in maybe as early as 2 years time, also getting 19yo to contribute is a good idea as it will prepare her for the real world of bills etc when the time comes to move out. Good luck!0
