Car insurance - declaring claim

Quick q about car insurance claim.

I'm a named driver on my dad's 2nd car. While I was driving it in April, I had an accident. Now if my dad renews the insurance policy on this car (with a different provider), does he have to declare this claim under his name?

e.g. if he wanted to renew it and not include me on the new policy, would he have to declare the claim at all?

or if I was to go on the policy again, would he only have to declare it under my name when adding me as a named driver.

just asking because when you fill in quote forms online, it asks after each driver whether there are any claims in the last 5 years.

Dad alone on policy - he declares it

You + Dad both on policy - declared against just you

(If you take out your own policy, then you declare it also)

Yep. It has to be declared under every possible combination of insurance policies.

yeah I was aware that it definitely has to be declared, but I wasn't sure if it would be declared twice if dad and I are both on the policy (i.e. under his name and mine).

He's just in the stages of getting quotes but I'm sure he'll clear it up with the insurance company before purchasing a policy.
