WordPress Login Problem

Hope someone here can offer guidance.
I'm having several problems with login. I recently carried out a complete re-install of WordPress because my site had been hacked. After much sweat and swearing I'm up and running again except.
When I go to login I get the invalid password message. OK so I check get me a new password.
I'm now in and accept the set new password recommendation e.g.wordpress1234 when I retype the first letter 'w' of the password in the confirm box I get the mismatch message.
Log out and login again using the password Wordpress just sent me and its invalid have to go repeat the process again - it's maddening
After searching how people tackled similar problems I changed my password in my MySQL manager (phpmyadmin)but to no avail. When I log out of WordPress and attempt to log in again using the password I changed in MySQL manager, I'm still refused permission. Close everything down. Reboot and the password in MySQL is back to a password like "$qwed1FRT^gDT436Twe' yes honestly that long. Must be auto generated somewhere.
Any ideas what is going on. I've carried out an automatic update and all my plugins are up to date Everything else seems to be working fine. My Wordpress is updated to the current issue as are all my plug-ins

Just tried it on one of my Wordpress sites and it's working fine.

Ah found the answer. Hopefully it will help someone in the future.
When altering the database enter your user password and then to the left of that in a drop down box select MD5 and select. You should now be able to login.
