I am not refusing access point blank
I have just been on the phone to the letting agent and they were not able to have a representative in the house when the inspection is being done
I have rearranged the inspection for next tuesday - when I can hopefully arrange for my Dad to be in the house
Thanks for your helpWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -

It may be worth your while writing to the LA, in a friendly manner, to confirm the specific date change for this appt and adding that you're happy to arrange mutually convenient times for such things but could they note on your tenancy records that you prefer to be present for all inspections/maintenance appointments.0 -
Latest update:
Letting agent phoned on tues at 4pm to ay they couldn't get it rearranged
He re-assured me that they used the electricians regulary and have used them for year, so i give the go-ahead for today and siad for any thing simialr in the future i would like 2 weeks notice
So next problem: I came home today ( was staying at my parents last night) to find they switched the fridge off and everything was defrosted
What do i do now?Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
it is inconvenient to have ths happen.. i am sure it was accidental... if it is just a fridge, then food wont have come to any harm being not quite as cold as it should have been for one day.. i would clean up the mess and put the food back in
if it is frozen uncooked food, then defrost it fully , cook it, and put it back in the freezer....0 -
Its was the freezer as well
I can't cook everything in the freezer and refreeze it - I cooked my dinner last night and I've had to throw most of the rest of it out
You can't refreeze frozen pizza and convience foods etc
I'm sure it was accidental too, that doesn't mean its not really annoyingWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
If a fridge/freezer is switched off, even for 24 hours and the door-seals are undamaged it's very unlikely that any food would have spoiled unless the doors were opened and closed a number of times during that period. I wouldn't have chucked out anything unless stuff had already started defrosting.0

The food was defrosted I checked - its only an small freezer compartment (ice box) in the fridge so the seal probably isn't as goodWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -

Well, at least you didn't lose a lot of food. It could have been worse: I once had a pal staying to look after the cat while I went on a week's holiday. When I got back the freezer door had been left open and the entire contents were ruined. And the freezer has never worked since.:mad::mad:0
