1899.com does not do free calls for NTL

Hi all, after doing some research into my NTL costs I got rid of my 24/7 unlimited calls and have gone with 1899.com. The impression I was given in some of the posts I had read indicated that my calls to a fixed uk landline would be free. I have now found that not to be the case. Calls are free from a BT line but not an NTL line. Costs for NTL via 1899.com are as follows:
UK fixed lines 1
UK mobiles (sat/sun) 3
UK mobiles (weekdays)10
UK (070 Personal) 15
UK (0845 Local) 4
UK (0870 National) 7
there is also a fixed 3p connection charge to be added to your call cost compared to 6p from NTL
Still cheaper than NTL esp with calls going up to 3p in October but not free!
Going to run with 1899.com for a couple of months and see if I make any savings against the £14 24/7 unlimited call charge from NTL

They use to be FREE but they have not been for some considerable time.

I've just signed up with First Telecom who seem to be better than 1899 (who I haven't used for ages to be honest - too much hassle to dial the number).
Very impressed thus far - signed up on Monday, call dialler unit received today (it's from Orchid, with First Telecom branding), so no need to ring another number first to get the cheaper rates.
This will actually be cheaper than NTL, who go up to 3p per minute regardless of time of day (unless you're on a call plan). With First Telecom there is no connection charge either
Also, sign up to First Telecom via Quidco for £10.50 cashback

FT are in fact dearer then 1899 for longer peak calls.
Eg. 10 minute call on 1899 10x1p a min 10p +4p connection 14p . Same call on FT 16p.
I would suggest https://www.18185.co.uk would be a better overall bet.(you can buy a orchid dialer at a MSE discount pre-set up for cable use if you need one. This will give you cheaper NGN,Mobile, and Intl Calls as well as 1p a minute01/02 calls.)0 -
First Telecom's 1.2p minimum charge is great for short calls, which is where 18185 and the like fall down. Only daytime calls over 9 minutes are cheaper with 18185.
Anyway, joining FT does not exclude you from joining 18185 and using the 0808 NTL access code.
The best way to join FT via Quidco is actually via the Uswitch link - this generates £16 cashback. I've just checked and it does appear for NTL customers as "FT cable"0
