I am asking for a friend who it seems cannot get an answer to her question.
She is 60 and at the moment receives council tax benefit, and also has most of her rent paid, she is still working but finding it hard. She wasn't aware she would be able to get MIG.! and was amazed to learn she was entitled to it.
What she would like to know, but cannot get an answer is this: If she got MIG and worked for approx 16 hours a week, how would this affect her MIG and how much would be deducted? She has an appointment for the 10 October with CAB, but would really like to know sooner if possible.
I just KNOW that someone on here will have the answer!
Thank you

I thought that MIG had been replaced by Pension Credit years ago. They would look at the income she has got coming into the household and if all that income was below the minimum amount the Government said someone in her position should have then she would get extra money, if it is over that amount it is unlikely she would qualify.
How did she find out that she could get MIG?0 -
As Whiteknight says, she needs to be looking at Pension Credit. There's an AgeUK leaflet about it - https://www.ageuk.org.uk/Documents/EN-GB/FS48%20Pension%20Credit%20April%202010%20-%20AM064_fcs.pdf?dtrk=true
She could ask for an appointment with the Pensions Service - https://www.dwp.gov.uk/about-dwp/customer-delivery/the-pension-service/
They will look at her situation and help her apply for anything she's entitled to.0 -

It's not the hours that matter in this case, it's how much she earns that is taken into account in deciding what pension credit she would get. She could check on https://www.entitledto.com, but a phone call to the Pension Service 0800 99 1234 is the best way forward.
Is she getting her state retirement pension?0 -
