Quick postage queestion

Hi all

OK yet again Im going to list a retro light fitting, hopefully this time Ill have more luck than last time ( nightmare to photgraph)

However, Im wondering what I should put as the postage.

It weighs ( in a light-ish cardboard box) just over 2 kilos The box is fairly big ( one of those ikea under bed cardboard numbers) but I can probably get hold of a more compact box if that makes it any cheaper??

Any ideas ?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

  • You'd have to get it down to 2.5cm wide to make it cheaper :/
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Probably best via courier. Or royal mail parcels if you want to run the risk of no signature. If over £32 probably best via courier. Charge £10-£12.
  • Parcel post for 2kilo is 5.31, but charge for 4 kilo at £7.70 plus £1 making £8.70 that will cover you upto £100 but if your final price is more than £100 then say you can offer more cover for an extra £2.50 taking the cover to £500.

If you're not sure about p and p, take it down to the Post Office. Ok you wouldn't do this all the time, but until you've got an idea about costings it might not be a bad idea.

You just need to look at the Royal Mail website and have a set of scales absolutely no need to go to Post ffice.

Just remember Parcels has no tracking and is not accepted by PayPal so if you use that you will be running a risk. But I have never had a problem with it.

Insurance only protects you - not the buyer.
  • I have just used a service via ebay, I wont bother with the link again.
I had 5 parcels, 3 on one day and 2 the next. Each parcel weighted in at 9kgs.
Picked up by DHL on their 24 hr service and all delivered the next day.
You do have to wait in for the carrier though, I think they mainly pick up in
the afternoon. Book by 11am for same day collection.
£5.99 each parcel - beat that.
