Charger Scam - Phones 4 U

I purchased an LG Pop Handset from the Phones 4 U Hanley store about 4 months ago.
About 3 weeks ago the charger that was bundled with the phone developed a fault and wouldn't charge the handset.
We returned it to the store today together with a valid receipt, only to be told that the charger wasn't covered under the manufacturers warranty.
We were astonished by this - surely the sale of goods act covers all aspects of the product and it's ancillary items.
can anyone clarify my rights ??

The charger may not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty, as you were advised.
But I think that the Sale of Goods Act says that if a product develops a fault within the first six months, the onus is on the vendor to prove that the product wasn't inherently faulty.
There are some links to the relevant Act here, which should help.0 -
It's not a scam at all. I remember when buying a phone that it's always mentioned that the charger is either only covered for a short period of time, IE a month, or not covered at all.
My Samsung Tocco Lite developed a faulty charger and rather than being bothered I simply picked up a £5 note and went and bought an equivalent one from a local market trader. Did the job until I sold the phone to my stepsister and still works to this day.I am a Mortgage Adviser

The manufacturer's warranty might not cover the charger, but Phones4U do appear to be scamming the OP as the Sale of Goods Act applies.0 -
