Can I plant my herbs outside

Hi
I have been growing chives,Thyme,mint and basil in pots in my kitchen through out the summer.

Can I plant these out into the garden to keep them going throughout the winter or would it be best to keep them inside.

You'll need to get them used to being outside first, as going from a warm kitchen to the cold ground might be too much of a shock to them.

BTW, the basil is tender and won't do well outside even in the summer, so keep that indoors - it may last the winter if you're lucky :j

Agapanthus

Chives, Thyme and mint should go outside with no problems. Chives and mint will tend to die down over the winter but they'll come back in the spring. Thyme will probably keep going.

Basil, however, is an annual - keep it inside as long as it keeps going, then get another.

Don't plant mint directly into the ground, it will take over your garden

Stick it in a big pot outside

Mind you, if you have a big garden & spare ground then mint would be fine in ground
