One hour for internet experts to find out private details of a woman's life

I decided to find out how much I could discover about my partner of 12 years, Suzanne, just by using the internet.

There is a 15-page report in front of me chronicling virtually every aspect of my girlfriend’s life: past and present.

That includes her friends, education, embarrassing pictures, former boyfriends and long-forgotten relatives.

Much of the information is new to me. And the uses to which it could be put — uses I hadn’t dreamt of until this week — are chilling.

Best to turn off the Internet to say safe online.

Is that really so surprising? If you put pictures and information about yourself all over the internet, it's there for all the world to see. The same as if you put it in the newspapers. No need to turn off the internet - people just need to use some common sense.
If you will the end, you must will the means.

Agree with staffy, it's not the internet it's the people that use it.

We are all guilty of giving certain information away about ourselves to some degree or another, take for example yourself amcluesent, just google your user name and see what comes up.

Although I do agree that you have to be very careful when using the likes of social networking sites.

I agree with Staffie. It is not the internet that is to blame but the users themselves. For as long as the users take the necessary precautions about divulging their personal information then there is nothing to fear about using the net.
