E-on Direct Debit Problems - anyone else?

I had a similar problem with EOn and it was a nightmare. All appeared correct my end, i.e. at the bank, bank confirmed it. DD was showing, in fact, iirc, they had successfully taken a few payments, but then they stopped. Claimed it was an error my side.
DD cancelled, re-established, several times. Each time bank said all was well, EOn said not.
Eventually, it worked but I gave them the elbow soon after.
I don't know what the problem was, or how/why it got fixed, but indications were it was a problem EOn's side.0 -
I had the very same thing when I switched to them this time last year. They would say I have canceled, bank would say it's set up and waiting for them to take money!
After many months of arguing I went to the bank and they managed to get me a printout showing direct debits in place at certain points when E-on said it was canceled. I sent it all off with a complaint letter and eventually it got sorted and I got £30 credited to my account as a goodwill gesture for the mistakes they made.
The problem is that they then insisted that my DD had to increase as a result of the 'arrears' that only existed as they couldn't work out how to get the money!!
Anyway my advice is speak to the bank, see if they can help (I had to speak to few different people before someone offered to help) and then fire off your evidence and ask them to sort it.
For what its worth, since they started taking my money I have found them very easy to deal with
Good luck

We've had the same problem switching to E-On - except we didn't get a letter telling us the direct debit had been cancelled. We only found out when we kept bugging E-on for answers!
Interesting that so many others have had the same experience with E-On.0 -
This is interesting.
We moved over to Eon last September. First bill arrived this morning. Almost £900! It seems they haven't been taking payments.
I rang Eon and was told that the DD was rejected, and they should have contacted us but didn't. I don't want to go into detail about their suggested resolution here, but it's gone to their complaints team. Not happy.0 -
Not good. But then neither is failing to check your bank statements for 9 months, so it's not all Eon's fault. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
