hi i hope im in the right place. im looking for some advice on what sort of funding would be available to me. im a 23 year old single parent with a 7month old son. 5 years after taking my A levels i have finally bitten the bullet and applied for a full time foundation degree at my local college. at the moment im waiting to hear if my application has been successful as the course is over subscribed and im on a waiting list with 1 other person. im currently in receipt of income support, council and housing benefit and child tax credits. after reading through the student finance brochure my head is swimming with info-there are so many options and im not entirely certain what is applicable. any advice would be much appreciated

You might or might not be able to claim independant status, I'm not actually sure, wait until someone else comes along. But for now you can try that calculator and see what it gives.0 -
Deffo independant as care of a child before the 1st September. Should be eligible for Parents Learning Allowance, and providing has no previous HE study, Special Support Grant, Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan. They'll be assistance with childcare if the OP isn't getting it through tax credits.0
