Replacement Carbon Brushes fo Bosch washing machine

Hello. My first post so hope it's okay!
I have a new pair of carbon brushes for my Bosch washing machine.
I removed the motor for ease of access and I have had it blown through to remove the dust. I will clean the armature next and have been recommended to use either Brasso or wet'ndry. Is this okay? Most importantly, as the tips of the Brushes are angled, I am not sure whether they need to be slotted in a certain way round? I pressume they make contact with the armature. Is it critical? I would much prefer to get it right first time.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated and thank you.

about 400 grade wet and dry should be OK ..dont over do it ..and clean debris out between the segments ...do not let the wet and dry touch the exposed shellac coated wires .
the brushes will be aligned when maximum contact with the armature is achieved ..if you put them in wrong ..will be obvious by the gap.
im not sure how your bosch motor is set up ...but some times you have to tie the brushes with thin string against the spring pressure in the holders ..as you put them in..then cut the string and pull out the string
all the best.markj0 -

Thanks very much Mark. I think I see what you mean about the gap; it seems that they go opposite ways to each other. I think I understand what you mean about the string idea but I am hoping the spring will just compress neatly behind the carbon. Little worried about ultimately getting the belt back on successfully. Is it strenght or technique or both! Thanks again Mark0

Thanks very much fybar. The first one I clicked on was very informative. Much appreciated0

You loosen the motor mounting bolt to remove/fit the belt. Once the belt is over the pulley, lever it back and retighten. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Many thanks macman. Unfortunately I didnt just have the one mounting bolt which would have made it much easier. I managed it in the end by putting the belt on the motor first then presenting as much as I could on the drum rim and then easing it on as you would a tyre on a wheel. Cheers again.0

Thanks very much for asking. I was somewhat reticent to say anything earlier as the machine was half way through its first wash! Anyway, it successfully completed the programme including a fast spin. It is still making a sort of squeeking noise that it developed 3/4 weeks ago maybe due to the old brushes wearing? I am wondering whether this might go away as the new ones 'bed in'?0

I see I am being given a couple of messages "remove your thanks". I need to read up on how to correctly us this site. Could you possibly direct me please to the best place to do this? Cheers0
