one cheque been taken out twice

Please could you help me I wrote a cheque out and its been taken out twice leaving me overdrawn, please could you tell me what POW means on statement from the person the cheque was made out to.Its a Barclays account;)

Can't answer what POW means but you should contact Barclays telling them what has happened - they should then arrange for one amount to be refunded and any charges incurred as a result to be scrubbed.0

I started this thread on behalf of my sister who had the above problems.
She contacted the bank and they said there is nothing they can do, she has to contact the person who the cheque was made out to and get them to transfer the money back into her account, even though both accounts are with Barclays. Still no idea what POW means as the bank didn't know.0 -

That's wrong, tell her to call Customer Relations (they're higher up than normal Telephone Banking) - 0845 609 0806. It shouldn't be up to your sister to get the money back, it's obviously a bank error! Tell her to press the option for existing complaint rather than new complaint, that guarantees she'll get a Customer Relations adviser.0
