Free/Cheap parking in Newcastle (As close to Northumbria Uni as possible)
Hi all,
New job (Dream job - What i've studied for - Personal Training
) and I am yet to get a permit to park at work (Northumbria University)
So for now i've been getting the Metro, but next week I have some 05:30 starts and Metro's do not start at that time.
There is a car park right outside the Uni but it's £1.20/hour so that means my 8 hour shift is going to cost me £9.60 just in parking alone, then got to think about petrol to/from Newcastle.
Anyone got any help?
Thanks, Liam
P.S. I've clicked Instand Email Notification so will try to reply to any responces as soon as I can.:T

I don't think there is any free parking within Newcastle City Centre.0

Just under £10 for parking isnt too bad, do you not know anyone who works in along your route that you could pick up/drop off and ask for some petrol money0

Opposite Glenamara House there are a load of bays and a road you can park on next to the normal houses. Then you can just walk across the bridge over the motorway. It's just a short walk, no more than 5 minutes from Glenamara House to the new sport centre and the main building.
Some of the places may be residents only but it isn't difficult to find a spot that isn't.
EDIT: There is also a free car park outside the old SCS shop at the bottom of Warwick Street. The university is more like a 10 minute walk from there but it's an option. Also outside what was The Globe there are a few spaces.0 -
Hmmm this sounds like a great idea but i'm having trouble finding the spaces? I've found this so far:
Camden St, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne And Wear NE2 1XE, UK
Can you direct me from there if you don't mind?:A
I would post the link in Google Maps but i'm not allowed?:(0 -

I can't read the restrictions on Google Street View but I know that I've used this car park in the past: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=NE2+1XE&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=16.81651,46.538086&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Newcastle+Upon+Tyne,+Tyne+And+Wear+NE2+1XE,+United+Kingdom&ll=54.978522,-1.600699&spn=0.002001,0.005681&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=54.97881,-1.600805&panoid=pJZV2etGgcAbgjQgRZtwWA&cbp=12,8.94,,0,0.58
It says private car park, but I've used it without a problem. And considering you're going so early you'll be fine. Then walk over the bridge on Camden Street.
There's also this, if you get there before it fills up: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=NE2+1XE&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=16.81651,46.538086&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Newcastle+Upon+Tyne,+Tyne+And+Wear+NE2+1XE,+United+Kingdom&ll=54.978765,-1.60005&spn=0.002001,0.005681&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=54.978776,-1.600231&panoid=QTaWKYp7JssPJ8lzasP2pw&cbp=12,180.62,,0,8.770 -
So basically if I get myself to:
St. Judes, Barker Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE2 1AS
I'll find myself a space (hopefully) and it's free?
Man, I owe you one!
Over a year, this'll save me a crazy amount of money!
:T:T:T:T:A:money:
Can't thank you enough!0 -
I would like to bump this post up to give extra thanks to MrTomato - Without your advice mate I DEFINITELY wouldn't have found somewhere to park! Fair enough I haven't parked extra in Baker Street, but without actually going there I wouldn't have found an EVEN better spot! lol
Appreciate the advice mate!0
