Markets look their best in the dark and only some open at dusk, so this may mean the last flight home and arriving late at night, so consider how easy it would be getting home from a UK airport.

The cheapest way to do it would be to go to the one in Birmingham. It's the largest christmas market in the UK and just as good as any you would go to in Germany.

We've done a daytrip to lubeck from stansted a couple of years ago.

Town isnt huge but it had some nice christmas stalls and the town is easily reached by a bus outside the terminal.

Also you can have an amazing breakfast with a pot of hot chocolate at Niederegger marzipan shop.

However just looked at lubeck to stn daytrip and alas you cant do it anymore, unless you want to spend 20mins at the airport and come back again
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right

Stay in the UK. All the stallholders sell the same stuff which is all made in China.

I would go to these markets for the atmosphere and to be in Germany which is not going to be the same as UK ones. My German friends tell me that the best one is in Nuremberg.
