We've managed ok without a car on our 3 trips to Vegas , used the monorail and the bus to get up and down the strip and organised tours to go further afield. Found out the hard way on our first trip how much walking you can do there

Pink Jeep Tours are a good way to visit Red Rock Canyon.

We have hired a car for a few days for our next trip though , which is next week , as we are spending a couple of nights at the Grand Canyon and have booked through Airline Network who seem very reasonable.
Same old same old since 2008

  • Tours are all well and good but if there are more than 2 of you they are often a lot more expensive than hiring a car.

Additionally, a car gives you a lot more flexibilty and convenience especially if you want to stay longer than a tour stops for at a particvualr location/attraction, or if you want to go at a different time or a day the tour does not operate, etc.

Car hire in Vegas is cheap as is gas (petrol) compared to the UK. So, when all is taken in to account including, bus/monorail fares, transfers to and from airport, tour costs, convenience, flexibility, ease of parking, etc, etc, there is not really any real choice IMO.

Actually we were looking at hiring a ferrari for a day to get married in but we may have to bow out (especially as you only get a max mileage of 75miles for 24 hours) as we seem to be spending far too much money already!

I believe you can pay $10 for a 'hummer experience' somewhere on the strip where you can race around in a Hummer on a little race track for a few mins!

I have been to Vegas a few times and usually have a car.

The strip is very long to walk ....why wait for buses etc on you hols. I always use valet parking which every hotel has ( it is free but you really should tip).

Also if you have a car you can always do a side trip out to red rock canyon or the hoover dam etc.

Always booked in the UK ...airlinenetwork is one of the best value at moment, as others have posted if you hire over in the states the basic price does not include any CDW or taxes etc.

You asked about THE DRIVE.. it is behind the Sahara hotel and it is $10 to drive any two GM vehicles of your choice, but you dont get to RACE round in a hummer, you get to drive very slowly over an off road course, which is great fun. If you want speed you can take a corvette round a fast course, but it isnt a very long course and you only get a couple of laps...BUT I had the biggest grin EVER after taking the corvette round.

If you do go to THE DRIVE make sure you have your license with you and you havent had to much to drink as you will be breathalised before they allow you on the tracks.

We also recommend airline network as the best price for car hire for Vegas. Have always hired a car there, like to have the freedom. We always travel out to the nearby place of Henderson where they have a shopping mall, walmart, k mart and all other stores - always like to get a few bargains!

we got married in Vegas and it was a great day.

where ever you get married they will be able to provide a Limo for you if you phone them. probably for free ( the Little white wedding chapel did for us)

as for renting a car it,s good idea unless you like frozen margariettas when your out on the strip ( very very guilty here i,m afraid) . the Duece is the best for cheap travel other wise hire a taxi ( hotel lobbys only) . whatever you do don,t try and walk !!!! you will get plenty of excercise just getting to and from your room from the casino floor!

have fun i cannot wait to get back there
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
