Prepayment Meter - NPower

Hi

Just looking for some advice. I have my gas & electiricity with npower (switched in May of this year as it was cheaper). I would like to change to a normal meter and use DD to pay however npower have just advised me that I need to be a customer for one year until they will change the meter for free (otherwise it is a £50 charge).

Can anyone advise if they know of any other service provider that will change the meter for free before a year is up or should I just wait it out till May 2007 and then change suppliers again?

Thanks
Shogs

  • I am pretty sure Scottish Power change it for free.

Call their CS on 0845 270 6543 and ask them!

It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

Hi there..the reason why they are probably saying that they want to charge you is a security deposit as they may not have a credit file on you, double check...At British Gas we will change it for free, however if you have not been with us a long time, and we dont have a full credit record on you or you have a bad credit history we do ask for a secure deposit which we would keep for one year then refund back to you, this can be upto £150 in rare cases...Check with Npower the reasons why they want to charge you, if they are charging you just for the sake of it leave them, if ya want to come over to BG mail me and I can help you there :)

    Cheers

    Andy
Hey folks...remember I might work for the company but I am a human and working in my own time, I will not responde to people who are rude, sarcy and crits me. My views and comments do not reflect British Gas and they are totally unreasponsable for my responses.
