Duncombe- a 'child' has two parents, and higher education is hard enough to fund these days don't you think?- if a nrp has the ability to pay then why should they not. If the parents were still together then would they not do everything and anything to get their children educated and give them the best start in life?
We are lucky as our eldest- son- is a fully qualified plumber raking it in, very proud of him. so he's only had to pay for our daughter, and so he should.0 -

Why should your son be paying for your daughter?0 -
My divorce was a battle from Hell, the hearing lasted for 2 or 3 days, don't remember exactly. The Judge God Bless him had a sense of humor in the end, my ex got what she deserved not a lot and what she did get the Legal Aid Bord said thanks but we will have that. As for maintenance she got 5p a year until she remarried!
I still provide for my kids, the one that is going to uni, I took to get most of the stuff she needs to eat and cook with. As for the other one he wants to join the forces, and I will take him to get the things that make life in the field a little easier.0 -
Something I forgot to put on the last time, our daughter wants to come home to stay with Dad, as she feels safe in his house. So much for a caring mother, she has said she will give her nothing and cut her dead as she gets no money from me to pay for her!!
So much for a system that cares for children! Even in higher education!0 -

My point is that it should be voluntary, not enforced. Higher education is a choice, regardless of circumstance. Yes, if parents want to support their child financially then great....but they shouldn't be forced to.
In my humble opinion that is
