Chrome bookmark issue

Have google been updating Chrome?
This morning I can no longer bookmark web pages (there was a yellow star but it's now been replaced with a white earth).
When I click on the new 'earth' symbol I get a box saying:
Security information.
The identity of this website has not been verified.
Your connection to https://www..... is not encrypted
You visited this site on ....
Anyone else having this problem?
