Angry with a Charity
Options
For a couple of months know i have been donating to charity, despite the fact I am still in debt, but its 30 pound a month which i have cut back on in other areas so its not a big deal.
Now today i received raffle tickets which i assume i am supposed to be selling, which at the moment i dont have time to do, but the thing that has really annoyed me...
Is the fact that they have just sent them to me.
No asking if i had time to do this.
No asking if it was ok to send me these things
They have put me in an really bad situation.
I am angry because this is a charity i know does good work, and im more than happy to donate my hard earned cash to help them out.
I just find this very discourteous, and assuming, and to be honest im tempted to send them back.
I will be ringing them tommorrow to voice my displeasure.
Despite this i am oing to give this a go selling them on my visits tommorrow, loads of women work at the hospital, so maybe worth a shot lol

That's exactly why they send them out unsolicited. If they'd asked, you might have said no.0

So it worked then?:p Teasing in part, but sadly I think that when charities act somewhere between cheeky and rude, they get what they're after.
Rule of life: Easier to ask for forgiveness after than permission before.
The question is whether they'll get more from having you help with the raffle tickets than they might lose by irritating you.for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.

yes, I realise I may appear cold and heartless a lot of the time.0 -
Wny not simply put these unrequested and unwanted raffle tickets in the recycling bin, and forget about the whole thing? You don't have to sell them to anyone, or to buy them yourself. They are effectively "junk mail".

How many have they sent to you?
If it's just two books then they're not expecting you to sell them ... simply to enter the raffle yourself by buying the tickets they've sent to you.
If you don't want to buy them, simply pass them on to someone who likes a flutter on a raffle or bin them.
As an existing donor, they figure you are easier to target for another donation - compared with signing up a new donor.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
I know the charity i work for do this.
When people sign up for donating there's a box on the form about further promotions etc. So if you don't tick the box you're sent them.
My advice just post them back they normally provide a prepaid envelope and put a note in there saying you currently don;t have time to sell them.

We do a dd 30 pound a month debit to a very well known charity - we to are trying to pay our debts of but felt we should do something 'charitable' and we both feel very passionate about this charity.
BUT they keep sending my husband really awful post - help avoid this by giving XXXXXX amount of money a month - cant they see we already give 30 pound a month?
I got charity raffle tickets out of the blue once ! was really mad as i do my bit dont need to be blackmailed into with with unsolicited raffle tickets. I sent them back with a swift note - but felt awful doing it.Debt free May 2016 (without the support of MSE forum users that would never have been possible - thank you all)0 -
Hiya
They can see that you give £30 a month, and so every now and again, they think it's worth asking for something else. You're a warm contact. If it really annoys/upsets you then you can contact the charity and ask them not to contcat you with any requests for further donations.
They'd rather you didn't but they have to follow your request.for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.

I used to send the occasional cheque to a charity and got a lot of hassle for more.
I contacted them and said I would consider a monthly DD on condition that I was not asked for more.
That was three years ago. They got the DD and the occasional extra and have not once asked me for more.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0
