Think I broke the PC - HELP PLEASE

Ok so I was having trouble connecting to wireless BB on laptop spoke to sky and they set me to WEP for laptop and PC yesterday and wireless is now working.

Tried to switch on PC this morning and olny get a full white screen (the Acer start up screen I think) saying Acer and Intel and at the bottom:

Del: enter registry F12: Boot Menu.

Just tried to switch it on again to check what the start screen says and can only see the Acer and Intel sign the bottom third of the screen is lines.

Please help (if possible before my husband kills me)

Well..........get that slinky outfit out of the wardrobe, prepare an intimate candlelit dinner (his favourite meal)for two with his favourite beer, get the kids out the house for the night (if you have any?), pander to his every whim and then tell him his computer is not working :eek:

Can you start up in safe mode? (tap F8 while the computer is booting up)

Welll it started to work normally again. Hubbie wanted to leave it switched on permanently but I wouldn't let him (electricity/environment etc).

Anyway before switching it off I decided to do a defrag (downloaded the one from filehippo) on it. Half way through multi couloured lines appeared at top middle and bottom of screen.

Left it for some time then switched off from mainn power button (as could not accessstart button to shut down normally).

Have since tried to switch it back on but same problem of the Acer/Intel screen being the only one that comes up with Del: Enter Setup F12: Boot Menu at the bottom of the screen.

Have tried pressing Del/F12 and nothing happens. Have also tried F8 as prev suggested to no avail.

One other thing when switched on it goes straight to this screen (Acer/Intel) immediately no other screen is shown prior to this.

Could it be the monitor? Prob not I know as I am just guessing cos clearly I know nothing about computers.

If you get no response when you do press del. then take off pc case side panel and remove the coin shaped battery on the motherboard for a few minutes then replace. This will reset the bios - you should then get past the logo screen.

Whoa I don't really wanna do that I don't even know what a motherboard etc is but thanks though. I'll maybe just take it to a shop
