  • You are doing a wonderful job with this site. Thanks for putting it together.
Live each day as if it was your last, because one day it will be and nothing else would really matter.
  • Did you register the moneysavingexpert.com domain right at the beginning or did someone snap it up and offer to sell it to you at an extortionate rate later on? Or did it actually sit unpurchased until you decided to set up the site (difficult to imagine with all the opportunistic domain squatters out there!).

It just wasn't really a term used by anyone so no one had snapped it.

From memory (though it may've been earlier) I got it somewhere around 2002 when i set my first home page up on it (i never count that as the site launch) which turned into the site in aug 2003.

Blimey, August 2003? I thought I joined quite a while after the site started:

It is second nature for me to try to get the best deal and cheekily ask for a discount whenever possible. My motto is 'If you don't ask, you don't get'................but I always ask nicely and smile.:D

Thank goodness I found your website Martin and signed up for membership, when I heard you talking so passionately on BBC Radio2 all those years ago.

MSE has saved me shed loads of money over the years and I've met some lovely people who have become good friends, thanks to the wonderful community in the forum.

Who would've thought all those years ago (when Martin used to personally send naughty members to the Sin Bin:o) that the day would come when 5 million people would be signed up to receive the MoneyTips email every week.

  • Thanks for the reply, Martin.

I just thought opportunists might have registered it when you were given the the title on the TV. It's amazing how quickly these guys can snap them up, though it's worse these days!
  • I'm an avid member of MSE and have recommended the site to all my friends and family. I'm £1000's richer thanks to the PPI reclaiming and wouldn't have known where to start if it wasn't for this site.

My Mum is 61, with no internet and has never seen the site, but does watch Martin when he's on telly. (And will phone me to remind me in case I've forgotten to watch!) Whenever I'm making a big purchase, buying insurance, a holiday or even a meal out, she'll say:

"Have you checked with Martin?" :rotfl:

like he's a member of the family!

It makes me giggle every time

Thanks Martin and the whole team for the site!

It's like that in our house too CherryPie. He's known as the finance god, so anytime he's on TV my mum is like God's on.

Hope that doesn't offend anyone, none intended!

Hi Martin, thanks for a great site!!! Always listened to you on the Jeremy Vine show!!!! Only recently started to use this site and found it very useful ( if only I had used it earlier ). I recently had to go bankrupt, and this site has been a godsend. The people in the BR forum have been great, full of support and information, a real rock, and I`ve not felt as alone as I did. I will continue to use this forum and help others ( if I can ) as others have helped me. Keep up the good work Martin as we need money saving tips more than ever now!!! Thanks, Geoff
