I have just made a huge mistake, here goes on Monday I recieved a coat that I had bought from ebay ,and signed for it. On tuesday the gentleman 2 doors down from my house knocked as royal mail had put a card through his door with the 7th dated on it but the card was for my address.???????? I know confusing well I phoned the sorting office and arranged redelivery of item on Thursday but it never appeared..Well I phoned sorting office this morning and it cannot be found so I leave my phone number and the manager promises to phone me with an update as soon as he knows more.He has just phoned me back saying that the item was signed for on Tuesday at my home . uh no it wasn't .I got quite upset as waiting for a package for my daughters birthday,so I emailed the seller of important package and enquired if this was her package as on the card it stated that it was a royal blue plastic packaging. The answer came back no its not there package.Have been sitting here in tears and it has suddely dawned on me that I had indeed signed for the package ,it was the coat that got delivered on the 6th Sept:o.I don't really relish the thought of phoning the sorting office back up and having to apologise for my slightly rude outburst that the delivery person was lying about me signing for it .I am so embarressed
:o

I can't for the life of me make head nor tail of what's happened here."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

As I understand it OP bought a coat from EBay, had it delivered and signed for it, forgot she'd done that and created a huge fuss that it hadn't been delivered, then remembered she'd had it delivered and signed for it in the first place.
As difficult as that is to believe...
Oh. I assumed there was a further package. Let this thread, indeed, be a warning to us all."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Apologizing is very characterbuilding, just do it.Alternativly put a card through the door offering to deliver the apology when they are out,but make sure you get a signature so you know they have received it,.Or wimp out and get someone else to ring and apologize for you,/tell them you are insane?0

Um basically this is right , I have had quite a few packages from ebay lately and just got confused to be honest as the coat was delivered on the monday and the card stated that the parcel in question had tried to be delivered on the tuesday .I was in all day on the tuesday so I knew for definate that I hadn't signed for any packages on that day.The only reason I created a fuss (of which i am hugely ashamed of) was they had put the wrong date on the card which is where the confusion has come from.I don't understand why this is difficult to believe but hey ho all sorted nowAs I understand it OP bought a coat from EBay, had it delivered and signed for it, forgot she'd done that and created a huge fuss that it hadn't been delivered, then remembered she'd had it delivered and signed for it in the first place.

could be worse
how about the middle class woman who tried to hit me with the "our staff are not here to be abused sign"
because it didn't have her(as it later transpired Parcelforce ) package?0 -
OMG now that has made me feel just a tad better. My regular postie turned up really late today and had a package for me ,we have known each other for about 2 years and I told him what had happened ,he giggled and told me not to worry they have had a lot worse said to them. I asked him to explain to the manager of the sorting office that I am not normally like that and i was totally mortified. :oWell I have apologised now and there isn't anything else I can really do about the mistake ,but will remember to put a note on my calender each time I get a package to save feeling ashamed again.could be worse

you wouldnt believe the grief you can get as a postie
Ive been stabbed for delivering a letter as addressed(for someone who lived there!)
hit with a baseball bat for not having a letter
and Im not a small guy, people seem to thinks folks in uniform wont retaliate?
then its even worse when you do the 'door' for parcel collections!0 -
Thank god I'm not that bad, what I did sounds positivley meek and mild now:D no excuse for my actions though. Will give the sorting office staff something to laugh at I suppose:D.Paul Walker , in my dreams;)0
