techy help please with the AT sign

Hi, I thought I had this problem sorted but unfortunately soon as I use the @
cymbol words disappear.
When im logging into email or writing my email address down as soon as I write the AT sign weird things happen.
someone mentioned before about keyboard settings, well its set to english.

I have tried to run McAfee on two ocasions on the last couple of days but both times it cuts out half way through and says theres an error. I ran ewido and it found problems with spyware and as far as im aware it fixed them.

Please can you help because its really getting annoying now and I dont know what to do. Please be gentle because Im not too clever with pc

Yeah everything loads perfectly.
Today I did a system restore (dont know if that was the right plan of action)to see if it would sort it but to no avail soon as I use the @
sign i loose some of the writing that I have done.

God this is doing my head in now, why oh why didnt I marry a techy guy :rotfl:

why dont you run an antivirus and antispyware utlility in safe mode, to see if it does a full scan or cuts out, as you say.

to acess safe mode press F8 before the computer loads windows, but WHATEVER you do dont connect to the internet in safe mode, as you will get more viruses etc
