FORUM hanging waiting for Facebook Content Delivery Network

Can't seem to get any of the threads to load this morning because the background connection to static.ak.fbcdn.net is hanging - groan.
That lovely little 'stats' box, containing the 'SHARE THIS' with Facebook seems to be the guilty culprit.
I've noted poor page speeds in the past coming down to fbcdn.net and wonder how much value having it in every thread is? Facebook is flaky enough on it's own and I have to question the logic in exporting this poor performance into the MSE :mad:
