Bad debt against a house?

Hello all, this is my first post on MSE. I am not sure if this is an appropriate place for this thread but here goes.
I have purchased a house as a reposession and judging by the amount of final demands and debt he former owner had I am concerned.
Final demands and bailiffs letters apart I was wondering if any judgement could be filed against the house. If so can I get them removed? I am genuine person who hopefully should have a good credit rating and definititly don`t want to be dragged down by someone elses debt issues.

It's your house now, so no one else's debts can be assigned to it. If you buy a car they couldn't chase you for speeding fines for the previous owner, could they!:)
Clearly the previous occupant had serious debt issues otherwise it would not have been repossessed! If letters are still coming then you need to contact the people sending them to inform them of the new situation. Try looking here for other similar threads, as it seems many people buying repos have trouble for a while.0 -
hiya and welcome to the board, debt goes against the person not the house, any letters you get just return to sender
if baliffs do turn up just show your details are not those of who they are looking for0 -
I agree with what others have said, it goes against the person not the property. I have at least a letter a week from debt collectors and bailiffs regarding the debt the previous occupiers of our house have. We bought the house off a landlord who had rented the place out for a few years and the last tennants didn't seem to care who didn't get paid and we are getting the mail for it all! So I open the mail and call each debt agency to tell them they haven't lived there for at least a year and I have no idea where they are now as they were tenants and I now own the property. So far I've had no repercussions but I can't believe quite how much debt in different places they ran up! My advice us open the mail call the companies concerned and tell them to stop sending things to your address as you now own the property and the previous owners have gone0
