Wouldn't be too impressed if it was me that she was asking, especially so early on. However, all she can do is ask, if it is only a case of few hours I can't seeing them actually refusing.

Has she got her timetable yet? It may be that she doesn't have lectures/ placement that afternoon?
    Gone ... or have I?

just realised she has readin week that week so shes possibly off anyway
  • If her course is the same as mine (and it should be) they allow a certain number of hours missed over the three years. But if you miss more, there are ways to make it up i.e. extra essays or short placements, depending on whether it's theory or practice you miss.

I know it's not exactly honest, but rather than ask, I'd suggest she pulls a sicky!

is readin week spent at home?
  • It depends. My reading weeks are different for each module so if I lived away from home it would be difficult to do it. I only have one module off each week I think.

thanks a lot for help what course do u do
  • She'd have to know what her timetable was like, if it is indeed a reading week then the likelihood is that she has nothing that week.

Where I was at uni, not all the lectures were compulsory - i.e. you were meant to attend them, but no one checked up on you. Others we had to sign in for, but could get friends to forge our signatures! Not very honest but faced with a statistics tutorial at 9am on a Monday I think it's understandable! (Admittedly, I didn't do nursing, but my nurse friend had similar circumstances).
