How can I tell if this company is for real?

Hi,

I appreciate I may be posting in the wrong area and if I am then sorry. We have a builder doing some extensive works in our house and all seemed to be going OK but the nearer we have come to the end the more lackluster has become his attendance and his quality of work. Our architect was out tonight and said that he has concerns about our ability to get a completion certificate because of some of the work not meeting fire regulations.

I did check them out before hand and found nothing. I went back on line tonight and found that the company had been "dissolved" in May of this year. The company No on the dissolution notice matches my guys number as does the company name, but the address is different ALL BE IT that they are in the same postcode. It all smells a little fishy to me. Any thoughts on what this might mean or where I can get more info to check out if my guy is legit and solvent would be appreciated. I'm in Scotland by the way and they are a limited company.

Thanks in advance. Maccyd
