it's the speed of the ordering website that will cause that to happen
Wasn't impressed with my latest delivery, they substituted 2 coke zero fridge packs for diet coke.Yuk!! Why did they not putin a 24 pack? Delivery driver just shrugged and walked away when I asked her.
Lots of items just left off too, not even substituted- I mean, how hard is it to substitute a brown loaf??

socks_uk wrote:I drive for ASDA and had a problem the other day with a customer who had 2 packs of coleslaw and 3 pizzas delivered when she only wanted (and thought she'd ordered) one of each. I asked her to show me the e-mail confirmation which clearly stated 2 coleslaw and 3 pizzas. She said she never looks at the confirmation. If she had, she could have tried to ammend her order or call the customer helplineor the local store, before delivery, to try to sort out the problem. Generally speaking, us drivers deal with refunds on any substituted items not suitable.
I'm not saying mistakes aren't made but please check your confirmation e-mails when they arrive.

I have never had the chance to speak to my poor driver about refunds etc as the poor soul has always been so late he only has the chance to give me the stuff quick and drive off.The victims we know so well
They shine in your eyes
When they kiss and tell
Strange places we never see
But you're always there

I know that mistakes do occur but in defence of Asda I will say that I've ordered things and if that item hasn't been available they've substitued items of a higher price & not charged me. Tesco & Sainsburys tend to sub items that are more expensive & then charge you the difference!0

Still no replies to my emails............I give up!
If any Asda workers are reading this, then the only future custom I will give Asda will be when they do loss making offers like the ones recently.
That is the only time I will put up with their poor service and customer care, its bearable for me as I get the deal, but no good for Asda's bottom line as I only shop with them for the Big Loss making deals.....so no regular home shopping from me then I'm afraid!
Which I'm sure was not Asda's intention!
I won't go into my boring tale of Asda woe's.....No WOWS I'm afraid....just WOE'S0 -

I can't speak for the 'picker' for your order but it's hard to think what a customer might want if we don't have what you want in stock.
In the store I work in, the pickers start work at 5am so most of the shelves have been re-stocked overnight, (in fact, even though I finished my driving shift at 10pm last night I was in at 5am this moring covering for a picker who was on holiday).
Not only do you have to substitute an item for something very close to what the customer origionally ordered, you have to take into consideration if the item that is out of stock is on some sort of offer, such as the 3 for £1 pot noodles.
Only last week I had 2 different customers with subs on certain offers: the first one wanted some orange puffin biscuits but was given another mint one (3 mint ones in total) but complained she had too many of the same flavour.
The other customer was subbed a cheese and tomato pizza instead of a ham & pineapple one but she said no-one would eat the cheese & tom one. She had also ordered a pepperoni one and why didn't they send another one of them? The pickers have to try and be mind readers of their customers but sometimes get it wrong.
But, what I would like to say is that if you're tempted to tick 'no substitutes' when you place your order, you wouldn't get any of the products that often have extra free in the pack.
The computers that the pickers use have the product description and barcode number on, the picker scans the item but if the barcodes don't match the computer it won't accept the item with the extra free.
Hope this helps

Just as a matter of interest... Why is this thread in 'Gone but was it any good'?? Just wondering if the person who put in here knows something I don't.
Am I going to be made redundant soon?

The free part of the delivery is disappearing....
op, I was talking about substituting 3 fridge pack diet with a different flavour fridge pack.I ordered three, so it would have made sense to put in a 24 pack of diet coke ,ie change the size of diet coke, not change the flavour.
As for leaving out wholemeal bread etc. I just can't see how they couldn't have put in kingsmill or own brand instead of warburtons.
If I give permission to substitute then I know I'm leaving myself open.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I refer to the £10 voucher for spending £35 at Asda.
Since it now finished and gone, and I was a new first time home shopper last week I thought I'd comment in the relevant section.
And I now realise why the delivery driver couldn't wait to get away and didn't want to know about my order.
He was trying to get to the next delivery on time so as not to have to refund the delivery charge..........which many Home shoppers secretly pray for!0 -

This is something I'm not aware of haveagoade. Throughout my training we were told to ring customers and pre-warn them if we might be late. All sorts of things can happen while out delivering that could cause us to be a few minutes late or even early and MOST customers are OK about that.
Unless it's hiding somewhere secretly on the ASDA home shopping website, I'm totally unaware of ASDA refunding the delivery charge if it happens to be slightly late. I have heard from customers that have previously used Sainsburys that they have that policy and I feel so sorry for their drivers because they are only given an hours time slot to deliver to their customers on time.
We are usually given deliveries within a certain radius but that could mean a 20 minute drive there and back to some villages with only one delivery in that particular village.
We can plan our own route and that can sometimes mean that, to prevent us going to the same area twice for different time slots, we may ring the later customer and ask to deliver it early or ring the earlier customer and ask if we can come a few minutes late so we don't zig-zag around all the villages or accross town. Going to one customer early can help us prevent maybe 3 customers having late deliveries but all areas of the country are different.
It's sad to hear that 'many Home shoppers secretly pray for us to be late' just to save 4 quid. We do a very heavy job,are put under a lot of pressure and (in my case at this time of the year) in the dark.
Jill
P.S .
If you do have your shopping delivered at night, PLEASE make your house numbers or names visible from the road. It takes ages curb-crawling streets and getting out of the vans to go up everyone's driveways because we can't see the names. That might help us keep to time-slots!
