Family Railcard

Hello
Thinking of getting one of these cards.
I realise that to take advantage of any d/count you are supposed to have a child of at least 5 with you.
However, if a child's tiket is purchased & then on the day of travel said child could not go would the rest of the people in the party (all adults) still be able to travel with the discounted tikets. Would the train guard be that bothered if the child had not travelled.
Thanks

As rev_henry says... its seriously dodgy.
The T&Cs state...To use your Family & Friends Railcard, your group must contain at least one named cardholder and at least one child aged between 5 and 15 years.
They go on to say...
So a party could be one adult and one child under five.If the only child in the Family & Friends Railcard group is aged less than five years of age, the Railcard holder must purchase a discounted ticket for that child in order for the accompanying adult(s) to qualify for the discount on their tickets.0 -
If you got caught on a ticket check you would get a penalty fare and your railcard taken from you.one of the famous 5

Not necessarily, penalty fares are not in force on all routes, but they could still make you pay the correct fare.geordieracer wrote: »If you got caught on a ticket check you would get a penalty fare and your railcard taken from you.0
