How much do you live on per year?

Everyone is doing a breakdown differently so not sure the best way to show this:
Our outgoings (ie utility bills, mortgage, insurance, load repayment, council tax) comes in around £1300 pcm. H's wages are around £1400. So he had £100 left over. with CB and CTC added to it works at around £300, my wages fluctuate as I am self employed but average is around £400. So that that's circa £700 to cover all food bills, petrol expenses and any other expenditure say birthdays, Christmas etc etc. Sounds quite a lot on paper but when I have to factor in say for example this month £67 car service and MOT, scooter transport costs to have it fixed £40, birthday party for DS £150, cost of costume purchases for tap show£25, yearly tax for the car £200 etc it starts to nibble away at an alarming rate!
I want to try and live on say £450 a month for food and expenses and then save the rest in our savings account. Our holiday this year was paid for from money I'd saved from my wages earlier in the year. We have no credit cards thankfully - got rid of them years ago.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

We spend £115 a week on utilities, food & petrol.
Once a month I spend around £50 in Costco on meat and store cupboard.
Monthly DDs like insuramce & CT is £55.
So that totals £565 a month we spend.
The rest we save. God knows what for0 -

from what I've gathered by lurking on various threads Mardatha, I would say you are probably saving it for sweeties and your "one day" chickens! :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I spend less than my income. I've no mortgage or debt in retirement so I roughly divide my monthly income into one third bills, one third spending and one third saving for anything for household, car or holidays. Seems to work for me." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."
