Hello just wondering if you could give me some guidance.
I currently rent a property by myself, and my partner is considering moving in. Do I have to let the landlord/letting agent know, and if so what is the implication? Do they have to credit/carry out other checks.
I would still be the one paying the rent from my account.
Thanks!

.? What does you tenancy agreement say about having guests/lodgers/other-occupants. Many tenancies exclude it, but some (eg Council tenancies) I think permit it, with limits.. Read your agreement (I can't see it from here..) then act -I currently rent a property by myself, and my partner is considering moving in. That's up to the landlord: If it were me I'd issue a new tenancy with both of you on it & run all normal checks. Why? Well, in the very unlikely event of there being some rent unpaid I'd have 2 people to take legal action against rather than just one. Nasty old game ain't it!Do they have to credit/carry out other checks.
I would still be the one paying the rent from my account.
Thanks!

What happens re:credit checks though - if they are struggling financially. Will this put my rental at risk? Does this also mean I have to pay all those fees again - when essentially it would still be me paying the rent?0

Don't put your own tenancy at risk for a partner who has financial difficulties.
We can't really answer on what your LL/LA would choose to do. If issuing a new tenancy, most *would* recheck you, possibly to tie in with specific rent guarantee insurance requirements0
