Premier Inn/Travelodge

Hi, I was just wondering if these 2 hotels change the prices of rooms if you turn up on the day or at night without a booking? (Obviously if there are rooms available) Or do the prices stay the same all the time?

Thanks

  • They have regular deals which lower the price considerably in certain areas (I had an email just today about special prices at T/Lodge).

As far as I know, the prices are the same whether you book in advance or turn up without a booking.

We've used Premier Inns all over the country and have always found them to be very comfortable and convenient, better then Travelodge IMO.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

If you just turn up on a week night around London you might struggle to find a room in a Premier Inn, I had to drive to Hemel recently when I was hoping to stay nearer to Heathrow on a Tuesday night, tried to get a room from about 2pm and that was the nearest. Also the deals have to booked in advance.

Travelodge have special non-flexible rates (subject to availabilty) for bookings 21 days or more in advance, and not-quite-so-cheap rates for bookings seven days or more in advance. Getting a room on the day will be more expensive. Rates also vary form individual hotel to hotel, and will also vary from night to night.
  • We got what seemed a good deal on a Travel lodge room in Newcastle a couple of months ago; a guy who checked in at reception at the same time as we did paid about double what we had, presumably for not taking advantage of the special offer deals running.

As it turned out I had the worst (and actually quite scary) night's experience I've ever had in a hotel thanks to drunks and poor management by the hotel, and let them know so in the morning. I gained a full refund - so it didn't cost me anything except a night of my life I'd rather have back and not live through like that, but that's a whole other story. I don't care how cheap they make it, I won't be staying there again...

Have a play around with this link, put in your date and where, you can see how much they vary on a day to day basis.
Sorry, never stayed in a premier inn but the DD say they are better than travelodge, but all i need is a bed and a kettle etc.

    Hello ESR

I can't comment about Travelodge because I've never stayed in one. I've found that it's usually cheaper to book Premier Inn hotels online in advance. If you can book a two night stay at Premier Inn, you might get one of the nights for £29...............although saying that, I've never managed to find a room for £29 in London.

Premier Inn have the 'Good Night's Sleep Guarantee' which I've had to use..............for a full refund. I have stayed in Premier Inn hotels in various places around the UK, all are decorated, clean and furnished to the same standard and on the whole they have friendly and helpful staff too.

Their beds are so comfy:cool: and the showers will blast you awake if you like a powerful shower in the morning.:D

I'm not connected to Premier Inn or Whitbread PLC..............I'm just a satisfied customer.

    Regards

I'm staying overnight in Leeds on Sunday 19th Sept for £12 (double room for DH and me) and again on 4th October for £19.00
Vicar Lane, clean, modern, good customer service, stay quite oftern and never had a problem.

We stayed in Newcastle a few months ago for 2 nights at £19 a night, again, no problem.

  • If anything in a Premier Inn going on the night/day will be the most expensive. The way their prices work is the earlier and less people that have already booked for that night - the cheaper it is.

Thanks for all the advice, I've stayed in a Premier Inn before and loved it. I was just interested in how it was priced, as I might have a random day out somewhere, and rather than come back after a long day it would be nice to just turn up at a hotel and stay the night.

    Thanks again for your help
