I know this is a stupid question but..
How long does a jar of tartare sauce keeps once opened and refrigerated.
All it says on the jar is refrigerate after opening??
Thanks

A month is reasonable. I'm sure I've seen Best used within 4 weeks once opened. But I'm not sure this was on tatar it may have been the horseradish. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Weird, I had fish tonight for dinner, and was thinking the same thing. Is this tartare sauce ok - it's been open and in the fridge for 3 months, and it tasted fine.
I'll let you know tomorrow if I have a dodgy stomach :rotfl:Wha's like us - damn few, an' they're a' deid

Here's mine:
Big spoon of mayo
4 or 5 capers chopped
2 chopped cornichons (mini gherkins)
chopped parsley
squeeze of lemon juice
salt and pepper
basically mix it all together
if you don't have capers it does work without too0 -
I know this is a really old post, but anyone any idea what I could use to replace the gherkins in this recipe, but will still taste like proper tartare sauce?
I don't want to buy a jar of tartare as we simply won't get through it in time (although maybe we would in 3 months....), but although I have capers, I don't have gherkins, and don't want to buy a jar of those as we definately wouldn't get through them and it will kind of defeat the purpose of not buying tartare...:D0
