Thanks Kenshaz
You are so right - we both feel much better now. And I think you're right - the break in the sun will do us both good.
Hope all is well with you and very best wishes to you both.0 -
I was very pleased to hear your husband doesn't have MS. I've never heard of ADEM.
Just enjoy each day as it comes. There's no point worrying about the future it just makes you miserable at the present. I hope you have a lovely time in Spain.0 -
Hello everyone.
Well we're back from Spain now - about two weeks ago. Didn't get to post before because I had my skin cancer op the day after we got back. Pleased to say it wasn't nearly as traumatic as I expected and the scar is healing very well.
Because the cancer was smack bang on my face I'm afraid I was vain enough to be concerned about the scarring but the sugeon has made a really neat job and I think that with time and perhaps a bit of make up I will be able to cover it up and it will hardly be visible.
Anyway our trip to Spain was wonderful - the weather was lovely - not too hot - just like a lovely English summer, although the nights were starting to get a little bit nippy. I can cope with that though.
The sun and warmth definitely seemed to help my husband. We didn't do very much whilst we were there - just rested and went for a few walks. We tried to go for a bike ride but unfortunately my husband couldn't maintain his balance. Also whereas normally he would try and practise a bit of Spanish he was very conscious of his slurred speech so he left the Spanish speak to me.
Since our return it's been back to the hospital and doctor routines with yet more tests. Another MRI scan last week and just waiting to meet with the consultant again. I think I will have to take up knitting to pass the waiting times.
Whilst we were in Spain we did some serious thinking. We have decided that whether or not he has MS or whether he will be one of the lucky ones and his illness really is one ADEM episode we are going to make some lifestyle changes.
We are defintitely going to try and downsize next year - buy a smaller house etc, reducing the mortage so that we can both ease up a bit and work less. Still a bit young for complete retirement - especially financially.
Anyway, that's about it for now. Will keep you posted.0 -
