This is off the top of my head as I'm just off to lunch
- Sign up to Coral via coral.co.uk/player. Deposit £50
- Sign up to Betfair via Quidco and using code from betfairpromo.com. Deposit £20
- Find a bet that's a close match (similar odds at Coral and Betfair) and bet £50 at Coral. They'll credit your £50 free bet; bet it on the same thing.
- Lay the bet at Betfair.
When the match has finished you should have made almost £50 from Coral and £25 from Betfair's free bet, doubling your money. Later you'll get an extra £25 from Quidco.0 -

Thank you Dan. You make it sound so simple, but £70 is such a lot of money to me I'm frightened of getting it wrong. Please could you give an actual example of a bet, maybe for a sporting event which is due to take place shortly, then I could put an imaginary bet on and work out afterwards if I would have got it right. I hope that makes sense. When I get the knack of the imaginary bets, I will take the plunge and use real money. But I need to practice with imaginary money first.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.0 -

Of course, and no one understands it all to start with. It is a bit scary when you've never placed a bet before, but it does get easier.
Here's a good bet for the Coral offer:
Liverpool v Reading in the Carling Cup tonight
Liverpool to win. Odds at 1.5 at Coral and 1.51 at Betfair.
This would return £48.80 of your initial £50 and if you bet the free bet on the same thing you'd come away with £47.60 profit from the Coral offer.
However you would need to put £52.40 into Betfair to do this - my £70 example was assuming you could find odds under 1.2 at Betfair which isn't possible for tonight's matches.
I know this is a lot of information but must dash - will answer more questions late tonight or someone else will come along and answer.0 -
What if, like me, you've already used Coral and Betfair for the GP cashbacks?? SOB......I'd never heard of matched betting when I did that.
I think I understand it - am well used to doing lay bets on Betfair.....just need to find bookies I haven't used....must go read that thread Dan told me to!
Dan - matched betting prodit of £5,700????? Blimey...0 -

There are loads more bookies out there. Quite a few people on this site have made over £10,000 from matched betting, and a few have made over £20,000.0 -

Fortunately my oh  decided he wanted to join Betfair yesterday
Fortunately too he had just obtained an rpoints account too. Used the code FTB125 that someone had kindly posted and my £25 free bet was credited tonight!! (You need to deposit £25 for this one!) Nice bump to my total when I add it up at the end of the week!
Been meaning to get ahead with my ebaying too - does anyone know the best place to get a cheap mannequin pls? The only half decent ones I can find are about £50 or is that what I will need to pay? No idea?!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Guys I'm going to drop out of this particular challenge. My brain hurts when I try to work out which parts of my Quidco, eBay and Amazon totals are from my freebies or bought with money made from my freebies (if that makes sense!). So I've decided to stick with the Quidco/eBay/Amazon totals and hopefully have an easier life.
A huge thank you to Emily for this inspiring thread. Even though I won't be in the challenge anymore I've still made about £30 from selling bits that I didn't pay for so I'm really happy with that.
Good luck to you all- you're all doing fantastically well and I'll be watching your progress with interestDebt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24
