copy DV files to DVD

I have recently purchased a Digital Video Camera (a Mustek DV5000) and I am wondering if there is a way to copy clips onto a normal CD-R or CD-RW to view on a DVD player the same way I can with JPG's? I have tried already and it works fine with the JPG but not the Video clips. I don't know if I'll need to change the files to something else, they download from my camera as ASF files. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks,
Angiet.

Hi
I'm going to move this over to the Techie Stuff board as I feel it's better suited there

There is a programme included in windows xp called "movie maker" it will allow you to make a film and burn it to a cd. You can add titles and music also.
Connect your camera to computer via firewire , open movie maker and "capture" your film. Once the film is finished I think it offers you the option to burn it to cd. Of course DVD is better quality, but you need a burner.

I been messing about with my minidvd camera it supports usb2 and firewire. I have several programs that import the movies but for some reason usb2 seems to not be well supported and have tried several porgrams, so firewire wherever possible is the best way to go. You can get leads for about £3 from here

Thats if you camera supports it and you have to make sure the right amount of pins, 4,5,6 are common. Example my camera has 4, dvd recorder 4, pc firewire 5.
Even though usb2 is slightly faster theractically, firewire from what I read is the best where forward.
There are several things you can do. I tried the moviemaker (comes with xp) but seems problematic for me at least.
I use a combination of software Ulead videostudio 8 for editing and Intervideo windcoder (came with my Asus motherboard) for getting video from mindvd.
If you can save the clips as mpeg2 that is most likely the best way forward as avi can and does take a lot of processing/hard disk space and video can take up quite alot even with mpeg2 for 1 minute video equates to 65mb.
With Ulead videostudio you can burn the mpeg2 files (from camcorder) straight to dvd with built in wizards etc. You can create quite a professional job and have done this on several occasion with an old analogue video8 camcorder and vhs video.
Another way is to get a dvdrecoder like the Liteon (5006 being latest) that has built-in firewire which you can control the camcorder form the dvdrecorder using remote control.
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0 -
